Energy Transition is the ongoing process aimed at replacing fossil fuels with Renewable Energies to produce electricity, fuels and the products we use in our everyday, while reducing global warming and pollution.

Energy Transition encompasses production of renewable energies such as solar, wind, hydroelectric and tidal power, use of biomasses and wastes as feedstocks for production of advanced bio-fuels, bio-plastics and bio-chemical products, as well as CO2 capture, storage and usage.

Hydrogen is one of the key tools in the Energy Transition. Hydrogen is a versatile, clean, and safe energy carrier that can be used as fuel for power or in industry as feedstock. It can be produced from renewable electricity (“green hydrogen”) and from carbon-abated fossil fuels (“blue hydrogen”). It produces zero emissions at point of use. It can be stored and transported at high energy density in liquid or gaseous form. It can be combusted or used in fuel cells to generate heat and electricity.

Energy Transition is linked with the Circular Economy model, which involves reusing and recycling existing materials and products in order to reduce the consumption of natural resources and the production of wastes.
